TravelArt Ltd. and its agents act at all the time as agents for the passengers in regard to travel, whether by railroad, motorcar, bus, ship or plane and assume no liability for injury, damage, loss accident, delay or irregularity which may occur on route, either by reason or defect in any vehicle or for any reason whatsoever or through the acts of default on the part of any company or persons engaged in conveying the passenger or in carrying out the arrangements of the trip. travelArt can accept no responsibility for losses. Additional expenses will have to be taken care of by members of the trip, as the rates provided are arrangements only at the times stated. The right is reserved to substitute hotels specified, for another of similar category, to make minor adjustments to the itinerary and to cancel any trip prior to departure, in which case a full refund will constitute full settlement to the passenger. No refund will be made for any unused part of the trip. The right is reserved to decline, to accept or to exclude any person as a member of a trip. Baggage is at owners risk. The issuance or acceptance of vouchers is deemed to be consent to the above conditions.

What about air travel?
We can do flight bookings for all domestic flights within Chile. The intenational flight to Santiago de Chile you have to book in your country of origin.

What if the date for an Experience Chile Trip is not the right one for meor if I like to have another itinerary?
Go to "travel ideas" and look if you find there an itinerary you like - there is a huge selection of trips all over Chile. You have the choice between three styles of trips :
Classic : our trips with emphasis on nature and culture, without any physical duress,
"Adventure" all kind of outdoor activities in the Lake District and Patagonia letting you chose your own physical difficulty level.
"Special Interest" here you find cruises, winetours, fly & drive etc. etc.

What is the best time to travel in Chile?
In Chile you can travel year arround. Santiago & the Central Valley and the beach resorts have a very nice mediterrean climate. Easter Island has a year arround average temperature of 21°C and in the Atacama Desert you always have warm days and cold nights. Remember that Chile is in the Southern Hemisphere, which means that our summer lasts from October to April, which is definetely the best travel time to Patagonia. Also September (spring) and May (autum) can be fantastic months to travel in Patagonia and the Lake District, but one has to accept that the weather could be rainy or windy. But this also can happen in summer - we say in Patagonia you have the four seasons in one day... We don´t recommend travelling in Southern Patagonia (Torres del Paine National Park) between June to August.

How do I pay?
When you receive our confirmation, you will have to make a deposit of USD 100 per person to firm up your reservation. You can mail a check to our Bank in the US and / or we accept wire transfers to our bank account in the US or in Germany.
Full payment is due 60 days before the trip departs. All prices are quoted in US dollars and are subject to change. All payments must be made in US dollars. If you do a reservation at a shorter notice full payment will be due upon confirmation.

How do I get my travel documents?
You will receive with our confirmation the detailed land and domestic air itinerary and the suggested equipement list (by e-mail or fax). Upon arrival in Chile you will be met at the airport from travelArt staff, who will hand out your travel documents and the complete information package, including:
* individual vouchers for each hotel and activities
* detailed itinerary with last-minute informations and exact time schedule
* domestic airtickets (if booked with us)
* baggage tags
* Map of Chile
* Chile tour guide
* list of emergency numbers

What about refunds?
travelArt does not give any refunds for unused hotel rooms, meals, sightseeing trips etc. Land costs are quoted as per package.

What if I have to cancel?
If you decide to cancel your trip, the following fees apply at the time (prior to departure) we receive written notice of your cancellation:

-until 46 days prior arrival, the deposit will be refunded less a handling charge of USD 100
-45 to 30 days prior arrival, 30% of the total invoiced amount is subject to forfeiture
-29 to 15 days prior arrival, 50% of the total invoiced amount is subject to forfeiture
-14 days or less prior arrival or no show, 100% of the total invoiced amount is subject to forfeiture
Cancellation Policy for packages in Patagonia:
- until 61 days prior arrival, the deposit will be refunded less a handling charge of USD 100
- 60 to 30 days prior arrival, 30% of the total invoiced amount is subject to forfeituref USD 100
- 29 days or less prior arrival or no show, 100% of the total invoiced amount is subject to forfeiture

Do I need a Visa?
You don´t need a visa for Chile if you are from North America , South America (with the exception of Bolivia), Western Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Japan. For all other countries please check with the Chilean Embassy. ALL citizens of all countries need a valid passport to enter into Chile. The citizens of the following countries are required to pay a fee at the Chilean customs. Note that this is a reciprocal fee based on costs Chileans pay to enter your country.
United States (USD 100), Canada (USD 55), Australia (USD 45)
All visa regulations can change and every traveller is responsible for visa regulations.

We, as a private travel company unfortunately can not assist everyone with general information about Chile. What is the difference between "Experience Chile Trips" and the "Travel Ideas"?
Experience Chile Trips we run on fixed departures in small groups (2 -12 persons). You find the price right on our website. Experience Chile Trips are our own trips, which have been running for years and enjoy tremendous success. The comaraderie of fellow travelers from all over the world helps to make these trips a big hit.
"travel ideas" - as the name states provides you with many, many ideas of how one can travel in Chile . There are no fixed departures you can start your trip whenever you want and you can combine any trip with any other. The price depends on with how many persons are travelling, which hotel category you require and at when you are travelling. Usually you will be travelling exclusively with your party (for example your spouse or group of friends who come together). We can (if you wish) put you on seat in base trips, where you travel together with other travellers, which of course is a more economic.
